Puppies Are 3 Weeks Old

Puppies are 3 weeks old! I was busy with butchering rabbits and other stuff yesterday, so am a day behind on the weekly puppy updates.

This week, the pups are really waking up and starting to be real puppies. Jinger is sick of them and tries getting away when they nurse, but is a super milk producer so gets extremely full and hard after just a few hours away from them. They had their first bowl of milk today, and slurped it all right up. They started climbing out of the pool at 2 weeks old, and after 1-6 back in every time I came in, I finally took it out on Wednesday, and just covered the floor of the shower with waterproof pads for them.

Since getting out of the pool, Sue has proven to be the friendly one, running over and trying to locate my voice every time I come in, and then settling down on my shoe until I leave.

Peggy was the runt, but has now caught up with her siblings in weight!

Several of the puppies are starting to get tri-color markings, but Foxy still has the most. She's a very dainty little girl.

Liz is a more friendly and bold puppy as well.

Jake has always been the precocious pup of the litter, walking sooner, interacting with humans first, more adventurous, etc. To top it all off, it appears that he may have a blue eye!

Our family Christmas gathering was rescheduled to this Sunday, after illness in 3 families prevented it from taking place last Saturday. Carl & Alyssa and their children came last night, so the kids had fun seeing the puppies today. Jinger has been so great about visitors, and loves it when people come to see her puppies-she loves the attention that falls her way, and tries her hardest to get everyone to throw her ball for her.
Here is a video of the puppies and children from today.
