It has still been roasting hot, and the does' production is finally starting to show it, but I decided to brave it this evening and take my camera out.
"What'cha lookin' at me for?"
"It's too hot to squabble-I'm going back to sleep."
Polly's kitties are doing great! They appear to have been overdue, because their eyes opened at 7 days, instead of the normal 10+ days.
It was a good thing I did decide to go make rounds! I found Eclipse in distress, foaming at the mouth and sides heaving, with a temperature of almost 106. I quickly lead her to a faucet in the shade and hosed her off for 10 minutes, at which time her temperature was down to 102.6, and she was starting to shiver. We've never had a case of this before!
Yeah, I know, rooster-we all agree with you! It's hot!

I got an email on Sunday that Lulubelle, one of Desi's daughters that we sold in 2016, was awarded with the Superior Genetics award! What that means is that she has ranked in the top 15% of her breed, based on her, and her relatives, body type and milk production.
That was sorta fun to know, but not really as we don't own her and she died. However, I was browsing the pedigree site the other day, and found out that Lulubelle's daughter, Bluebelle, is also an SG doe! I had decided to buy her back last week, but didn't have her transferred into my name yet, so hadn't gotten an email about her.
