I hatched a batch of ducklings a couple weeks ago. I ended up only getting 18 live ducklings out of 36 eggs, so am not so happy about that. I have another clutch set right now, and will be experimenting with it a little to see if I can better results.
The below picture is of a duckling at nine days incubation.
The ducklings-I sold them all to the local feed store.
White Face had a bull calf. Luke's cow had a heifer calf, but I don't have a picture of it.
I am selling Cash, or Rex as he was originally known. Without going into great detail, he just isn't working out for what I need in a stud dog. He has progressed by leaps and bounds since I first got him though. He is no longer(well, usually anyway) the cringing ball of bones and hair that he was at first. He is a lively, jumpy, happy go lucky boy that loves to be petted.
It has been raining, and raining and Cash is all messy from rolling in the mud.
We went on a walk today. Cash was ecstatic, since it is the first time in three weeks that he's been able to go for a jaunt with Kate. (She was in heat and I didn't want her bred.) The wildflowers are coming and so is my annual "wildflowers and dogs" photoshoot. Stay tuned!
Kate-"Okay, I guess one photo will be alright."
"No more, k? I just want to go play-besides, Cash gets in my face every time you take a picture, and I don't like it."
Goofy Cash is oftentimes a nice break from serious, mature Kate.
Glad to see you back, really enjoyed all the posts!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that Cash did not work out for you.
